Roatan 6/5-6/10

 Day 1

We arrived in Roatan Sunday afternoon after a day delay because of a flight cancellation from Austin to Houston. We were picked up at the airport then headed to the local grocery for breakfast and sandwich supplies. They had so many of the brands we know from home I was surprised.

Next, we were taken to our villa “Coral Vista #5”. It is a little slice of teal boarding the ocean on both sides and includes a gaggle of neighboring roosters and chickens that remind us of their presence with a sprinkle of crowing throughout the day.

Once we settled in Jana and Jack stayed back to rest and Brandon and I walked the beach to find food. We landed on the patio of “Costa Dolce”with beautiful tropical flora and tasty chicken empanadas and ceviche.

Brandon befriended the local cigar maker and purchased two we found some ground coffe for the morning at a little grocery stall and stumbled our way into a couple of shops before we were called home.

We took a dip in our tiny pool, mildly warmer than bath water and less of a reprieve from the heat than we anticipated. It was enjoyable and the views overlooking the ocean are unbeatable!

Dinner was at “Beachers” Jana had been eying their Monday night lobster and key lime pie special. After drinking the frosty Monkey Lala’s we decided to forgo dessert. Brandon and I split the fish fillet and the jerk chicken I would recommend both! Brandon liked the fish better stating the chicken was a little sweet. Our waitress was a hoot and the music was oldies american - we knew all the songs.

We were off to bed early- Brandon crashed on the couch I worked on some art for a little and then we were off to snooze-town. At once poky during the night the fierceness of the weather caused Brandon to sit up in bed and almost convince me we should head downstairs to lower ground …so we wouldn’t get hit by lightening? We laughed in the morning.
